At Fluid, we think beyond profit to support projects and make a meaningful contribution to the wider community. Whilst we certainly aren’t perfect, we are authentic and always try our best to deliver products with minimal impact on our environment and give back to the community and projects that benefit others - not just ourselves.
We promise to be responsible, which means that our drive to help inform better product choices goes beyond the pursuit of profit. Our Futures Group at Fluid is dedicated to finding ways to do things better - listen to new ideas, starting conversations and encouraging small changes that make our industry a better place.
Way back In 2006, we launched ‘Eco Incentives’ as an environmentally-led sub-brand of Fluid. It soon became clear that our eco range was not so much of a niche and more of a central part of our ethos and core business, so we merged it into the core brand. We went on to achieve Carbon Neutral status and ISO 9001 & 14001 accreditation, as it became obvious that strong purpose meant good business. Better business allowed us to do more beyond profit.
Fluid’s three pillars
As part of our commitment to our people, environment and community we have a ‘purpose framework’ which we designed to ensure we are always being our best selves in everything we do. Our three pillars - Fluid Futures, Fluid Friends and Fluid Family - articulate our business ethos beyond profit and help to govern the commercial decisions we make.
We are also B-Corp Certified, meaning we meet the highest standard of verified social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability, to balance profit and purpose. You can read more about B-Corp and what it means to us here.
We’re carbon neutral
Being carbon neutral is something that a lot of businesses talk about - especially in recent years. Here at Fluid, we’re proud to say that we’ve taken action on climate change, working to offset our carbon emissions - and are officially a ‘carbon zero’ company.
Both our Cornwall HQ and Bury St Edmunds offices are completely powered by renewable energy (read more on that here), and we also work with carbon management company co2balance to invest in a range of carbon offsetting projects, both in the UK and in Africa.
The projects being undertaken through the program include working with local communities in East Africa to replace their open fires with solar ovens and energy efficient stoves. These then either replace firewood, or significantly reduce the amount that is needed, producing far less carbon emissions that would have otherwise been created.
On top of that, a whole bunch of trees have been planted on behalf of Fluid, at co2balance's woodland area at Roche in Cornwall. They will be a mixture of Ash, Oak and Alder and will do what trees do best - absorb carbon as they grow.
As part of our commitment to the wider community, we also encourage the team to get involved in various charitable works to highlight issues and help where we can. You can read all about what we’ve been up to in our News section here.
