With this in mind our Future’s group had a large quantity of waste garments that they needed to clear from our Bury warehouse. These garments would have been recycled or could have ended up in landfill.
A chance encounter with a local CIC - Cultivate Cornwall allowed Fluid to repurpose this garment waste in a way that helps our community and stops anything being needlessly wasted.
Cultivate Cornwall’s objectives are: To prevent poverty being a barrier to inclusion or progression, to help bring forward the voice of the youth in our community, to develop and encourage community inclusion, to help people in our society with the chance to improve life and employment prospects for the future.
Gemma Richards, Fluid’s Marketing Manager adds “I met John during the Cornwall Business Awards and we got chatting about whether we could help each other. His passion and enthusiasm for helping others really came across and I saw a natural way that we could reuse our garment waste through his workshops and projects. What better way to get our garments repurposed in a fun and creative way that actually helps local young people whilst reducing the amount we send for recycling”.
John Lakey from Cultivate Cornwall adds “All of us at Cultivate Cornwall and the youth in Liskeard who took part in the Eco Fashion Workshops would like to thank all the help they have received in making this happen. The People at Fluid Branding have been incredibly helpful in providing clothing that we have been able to use as the base of many of the creations. Without people like Fluid then this could never happen and the young people in our communities would miss out and for this we are really thankful.”
