We supply thousands of branded items to hundreds of organisations, branded with their logo or message. So, it’s possibly no surprise that we see a wide variety of requests from the regular and reliable favourites such as pens and mugs, to the downright exotic and bizarre – think gigantic inflatable bicycles and meatball plates.
Here’s our run-down of the top 8 requests for bespoke items our sales, sourcing and production teams have picked as standing out amongst the many they work on annually.
1 Tour De France Inflatable Bicycles
Requests from local government departments are not unusual here at Fluid, but when our Leeds office took an enquiry from Leeds City Council, it was for something far from ordinary. Kyle Scott, Sales Director at our Leeds office, guided the Council in providing an unforgettable focal point in Leeds’ City Square to promote Leeds Cycling when the Tour De France was started in the city. The inflatables were literally, a giant success!
2 Ship-shape USB Drive
Polarcus came to us because they wanted to promote their company with some totally bespoke USB sticks which looked like small scale models of one of their impressive fleet of seismic research ships. Account Manager Jemma Kent and Cat Murdoch, Fluid Branding’s Production Manager, worked hard to make sure that small details on the USB drives were faithful to the look of the vessels.
3 Stress-relieving Seals
Amy Martin, Fluid’s longest standing account manager, provided Hardide Coatings, a supplier of industrial seal protection coatings, with a branded stress-relieving product in the shape of a seal! Geddit - SEAL?
4 Giant Inflatable Oats
One of Fluid Branding’s newest team members, Morven Doyle hit the ground running when she joined us, and before long was investigating a request for huge, inflatable oats! The client, a national radio network, wanted them for a fun-day challenge.
5 Black Horse Soft Toy
Arguably the UK’s most famous high street bank spoke to Jemma Kent, looking for a soft toy representing the black horse of their unmistakable branding. No prizes for guessing the bank in question!
6 Pantone Matched Wayfarer Sunglasses
Sales Director Kyle Scott and Sourcing Manager Peter Murdoch worked with the rather delicious Swedish cider brand Rekorderlig to have made and branded 20,000 pairs of Pantone® matched sunglasses to them for to use at festivals, throughout the UK.
7 Bespoke ‘Loo Flushing Mechanism' Bottle Opener Keyring
Yep, you read it correctly! One of our clients, FluidMaster, is a staple brand for British plumbers to turn to when faced with flush problems. The company manufactures the mechanism which flushes loos, and they wanted some to-scale keyrings to which doubled as a bottle opener.
8 Kids’ Meatball Plate
We produced CAD designs and graphics for a well-known sausage product company who wanted bespoke children’s plates which featured ‘hollows’ in which would sit their meatballs! Sourcing Manager Peter Murdoch who liaised with specialist manufacturers said “This was one of the most unusual requests I’ve needed to source for. The clients wanted five dipped sections to fit their meatballs into. The moulded dips in the plates were used as part of the design”.
Other fondly remembered enquiries include one for custom wellington boots, Pantone® matched jelly beans, toasters and logo printed sandals.
So there you have it - an insight into some of the weird and wonderful client requests we've received for bespoke promotional products. As you can tell, we can pretty much source just about anything and this is why working at Fluid Branding is never dull!
