A native of inland North America from North California to Alaska the Lodgepole Pine is grown as a forestry tree on higher moorlands.
Like the Scots and Corsican Pines the Lodgepole Pine is a two-needle pine i.e. the needles are in pairs. The needles are bright green and the conical-oval cones are tough and may persist on the tree for several years before opening.
