Virgin Balloon Flight Merchandise Packs

The Brief:

Produce a new merchandise pack to compliment the purchase of flight tickets.

The packs are provided as an added-value part of the experience, needing to be low in cost but with a high perceived value.

Target Market: Adventure seekers, with reasonable disposable income, and high quality expectations.

Product(s) Used / Merchandise Product Scopes:

A completely bespoke pack was produced for Virgin, following an in-depth examination of their needs. We suggested a number of products, and agreed on a bespoke bag containing a baseball cap, metal pen, set of binoculars and a compass.

Close attention to the packaging and quality on each item was required. eg. a bespoke engraved chrome buckle on the rear of the cap needed to match the engraved chrome pen. The piping, embroidery and material of the binocular case needed to work with the outer bag etc.

The choice of materials were discussed and sampled, and the shape and size of each item tailored to ensure it fitted together within the bespoke bag. Every detail had to be checked and amended, from quality of the finish right down to the length and weight of the shoulder strap.

The logistics of production, collation and warehousing and distribution, all needed careful planning and were all managed in-house by Fluid Branding.

Campaign Result:

The bespoke packs have been an overwhelming success. Virgin loved the new merchandise, which maintained the quality and product coverage they were seeking, within an extremely tight budget.

The packs have been well received by customers purchasing the flights, and Virgin have already committed to replenishing the packs for next seasons flights.
